La Defense District

The district of the defense(see here) started to be built in 1960, it is composed of buildings, of big height with a lot of offices but there isa lot of housing too, It is the biggest commercial center of Paris 100,000 square meters,
The defense is the first district for business in Europe, it's made of 5 towns such as : Puteaux,Courbevois and Nanterre. In the district there are 2,500 companies, 180,000 employees and 20,000 inhabitants. The district of the defense holds 71 towers which stretch out on 160 hectares divided in4 big sectors: North arch, South arch, North Esplanade, South Esplanade . In the district of the defense we can find  14 of the 20 biggest companies in France ( as Total,Areva,Société général).Today, we continue to build towers notably the leading project or the Generali tower.

The name of the district comes from the statut of the defence of Paris during the French-Prussian  war of 1870. Before 2015 the district of the defense wants to build 450,000 squares meters of offices and 100,000 of housing to add to the district of the defense.
